Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet Outreach
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. [Psalm 119:105, 106]
The Truth About Death
Throughout history, people have wondered what happens after death. What’s beyond the grave? Can the Dead communicate? Spiritism is very popular and many attempt to find meaning through psychics and mediums. But the answer to the mystery of death is found only in Scripture.
WHAT IS OUR TRUE CONDITION? HOW WERE WE CREATED?
And YHWH God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. [Genesis 2:7]
The Bible doesn’t teach that YHWH put a soul into Humanity at Creation. Scripture says He formed man (i.e., the body) and breathed the Breath of Life into him. The combination of body + Breath of Life = a living soul (i.e., a person).
IS THE SOUL MORTAL OR IMMORTAL?
Behold, all souls are mine […] the soul that sinneth, it shall die. [Ezekiel 18:4]
Let him know, that he which covereth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death […] [James 5:20]
So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life. [Job 7:15]
“Mortal” means subject to death. “Immortal” means not subject to death — something that does not perish, something that lives forever.
WHAT IS MAN’S CONDITION WHILE IN THE GRAVE?
For the living know that they shall die; but the dead know not any thing […] also their love and their hatred and their envy, is now perished […] [Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6]
[…] Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. […] Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. [John 11:11-14]
Consider and hear me, O YHWH my God; lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death. [Psalm 13:3]
Death is a peaceful sleep. There is no consciousness of the passage of Time in the grave.
WHAT ABOUT “BEYOND THE GRAVE”? DOES ANYONE HAVE IMMORTALITY?
[…] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who only hath immortality […] [1 Timothy 6:15, 16]
CAN THE DEAD COMMUNICATE WITH THE LIVING?
His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day, his thoughts perish. [Psalm 146:4]
The dead praise not YHWH neither any that go down in silence. [Psalm 115:17]
For in death, there is no remembrance of thee; in the grave, who shall give thee thanks? [Psalm 6:5]
If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; all flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again to dust. [Job 34:14, 15]
The idea that it’s possible for the Living and Dead to communicate with each other is called “spiritism.” This idea says Man is naturally immortal. If communication lines are forever open between the Living and Dead, then it would be incorrect to speak of a person as dying. In other words, no one would ever die. This is the lie told by Satan (through the serpent) to Mankind in the Garden of Eden (And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. [Genesis 3:4]).
WHEN WILL THE DEAD MEET YHWH?
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which are alive shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord. [1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17]
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction. [Hosea 13:14]
Individuals do not “go” to heaven or hell upon death; all sleep in the grave until the return of the Savior (i.e., “The Second Coming”). Through Him, all who’ve died will be raised — some to eternal life (i.e., individuals who followed the Lord), some to eternal death (i.e., those who rejected the message and offer of salvation).

The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of YHWH doeth valiantly. The right hand of YHWH is exalted: the right hand of YHWH doeth valiantly. I shall not die but live, and declare the works of Yahu. Yahu hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death. Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them and I will praise Yahu. [Psalm 118:15-19]
