Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet Outreach
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. [Psalm 119:105, 106]
Am I Responsible?
A steward is someone who manages someone else’s goods. Sooner or later the time arrives when the steward is called upon to render a personal accounting.
All that Mankind has in this world is really “on loan” from YHWH, as His stewards.
MAN AS A STEWARD
- Man was given dominion after the creation of all things (e.g., Genesis 1:26; Genesis 2:15; Psalm 115:16)
- Man was entrusted to manage what belongs to YHWH (e.g., Psalm 24:1; Job 41:11; 1 Corinthians 10:26, 28)
- What does YHWH require of Mankind as stewards today? Psalm 116:12 says What shall I render unto YHWH for all his benefits toward me?
STEWARDSHIP OF TALENTS
- When YHWH gives a talent to be used, He gives Man full responsibility (e.g., Luke 19:13) — and with responsibility comes accountability (e.g., Matthew 25:19; Luke 16:1, 2)
- YHWH has given talents to each of His servants. No person should be concerned with the number of talents the Lord gives. The question each person should consider is: “What am I doing with the talents I’ve received?” As believers see the result of their talents being used by YHWH — in souls won for the Kingdom — they find satisfaction of spirit as their chief reward.
STEWARDSHIP OF TIME
- Time is a talent given to every person. Scripture admonishes Time to be used wisely because there is no way to “call back” even one moment (e.g., Ephesians 5:15, 16; Colossians 4:5)
- Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says, in part, that there is a time to every purpose under heaven. Scripture indicates times of change, direction and progress
- As faithful stewards of Time, there are three things to keep in mind: Blessed is he that readeth, and they that heareth the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand (Revelation 1:3).
STEWARDSHIP OF EVERYDAY LIVING
- In nature, some things multiply by dividing: cells increase by splitting, plants multiply when seeds are sown liberally. Only by YHWH’s power is wealth obtained (e.g., Deuteronomy 8:18; Proverbs 10:22)
- A tithe, or tenth, is a reminder of YHWH’s ownership and Mankind’s stewardship. Believers show honor to YHWH by returning to Him “the first fruits” of increase (e.g., Proverbs 3:9; Leviticus 27:30; Genesis 14:18-20; Malachi 3:8, 9; Matthew 23:23). The tithing system did not only “belong” to the Israelites; it does not belong to the law of ordinances which was nailed to Messiah’s cross. The death of Yahushua did not change the fact of Father YHWH’s ownership; it deepens the Christian’s responsibility. Mankind’s obligation is to acknowledge YHWH’s ownership and appreciation for His wonderful mercy and gift of salvation. His strength is not diminished.
- Healthful living acknowledges YHWH as Creator and Sustainer of life. Our bodies are the temple of the Lord (e.g., Romans 12:1; 1 Peter 2:5; 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20)
- Stewardship in everyday living is an awesome responsibility; it involves a complete transformation. When the Lord dwells in the heart by faith, a person’s thoughts and various habits will be brought into conformity to the standards as set forth in the Scriptures (e.g., Proverbs 23:26; Philippians 4:8; Matthew 7:12).

Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? And they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. [1 Corinthians 9:13, 14]
