Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet Outreach

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. [Psalm 119:105, 106]

The Word of YHWH Endures

The relevance of the Bible is for us today.

THE WORD TODAY
For that all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth and the flower thereof falleth away: but the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. [1 Peter 1:24, 25]

For many people, the Bible has no relevance. However, if a person believes the Bible is merely a human-authored book, then a “no relevance” argument could be valid. But as Christians, this argument is rejected. The Bible is the Word of YHWH; the Creator has spoken to Humanity through Scripture. His divine will is revealed to everyone. That it was written long ago or written by a small group of people, or written in a society vastly different from today — all these things make no difference if we believe YHWH has spoken to us through the Bible.

Despite diversity in style and form, from the first book to the last, the Bible speaks about a loving Father, the Creator of the universe who reaches out to His sinful creatures. The theme of YHWH’s love is the focus of Scripture, which is seen particularly through Messiah, who came to this world, lived as a human and died on Calvary. This is the greatest truth of the universe. All major Bible truths, therefore, should be studied from this perspective.

THE EVERLASTING PLAN
The counsel of YHWH standeth forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. [Psalm 33:11]

The Bible is relevant today because the plans of YHWH are revealed in it; the plan of salvation has been made known through the Word, and that salvation is to be for all people in every generation. There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless, the counsel of YHWH, that shall stand [Proverbs 19:21]. YHWH is eternal (Deuteronomy 33:27); He has an eternal kingdom (Daniel 2:44). His will for us as expressed in the Bible hasn’t changed with the passing of Time because He doesn’t change (e.g., Hebrews 1:12; Hebrews 13:8; Malachi 3:6). Cultures, attitudes, people — these all change; change is a fact of Life. But YHWH Himself and His purposes for us remain the same!

It makes no difference that the Bible was transcribed many centuries ago or in a different culture. What matters is YHWH’s love for us — and His desire for our salvation — remains the same all through the ages. This is the secret of the Bible: it’s relevant today because the Lord and Creator revealed in its pages is relevant today.

UNBROKEN PROMISES
Blessed be YHWH that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he hath promised; there hath not fallen one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant. [1 Kings 8:56]

The word of YHWH exists forever because His promises never fail. Unlike human promises that are frequently broken, YHWH always keeps His.
He has also given us His promises for everlasting life (John 3:15), answers to prayer (Matthew 7:7), unlimited blessings (Mark 9:23), removal of obstacles (Luke 17:6), spiritual fullness (John 6:35), salvation (Romans 1:16), help with temptation (Hebrews 2:18) and victory (James 4:7).

Food for thought: These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be ye of good cheer; I have overcome the world. [John 16:33] What special promise is here for all of us?

THE BIBLE ENDURES…
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. [Matthew 24:35]

Throughout history, people predicted the “inevitable demise” of the Bible — but how wrong they’ve been! Besides the attempts to destroy the Bible through violence, Satan has used science, philosophy and “higher criticism” to eradicate the Bible’s influence. And yet today, millions of people believe Scripture is YHWH’s word and seek to claim its promises and live by its commands.
The Bible endures, now and forever! The question is: what has it done in our lives? The Bible can remain on our bookshelves, desks or even our minds — but unless we allow it into our hearts, what good does it do? We need to look at our lives…and ask ourselves, “What does my life say about how I relate to the enduring word of YHWH?”
