Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet Outreach
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. [Psalm 119:105, 106]
The Voice from Heaven
Since the fall of Humanity, YHWH has been communicating with us through various means.
YHWH’S SEARCH FOR HUMANITY
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. [Hebrews 1:1, 2]
How much is a human worth? From a purely chemical standpoint, quite a bit. According to various estimates, the value of proteins, enzymes, RNA, DNA, amono acids and biochemicals within the human body may make a person worth, literally, millions of dollars. Of course, our true worth can only be found through the love of Father YHWH and by the life and death of His Son, Yahushua. How has the message of this love been revealed — the good news of our worth and redemption?
It’s ironic that we sometimes hear the phrase “Man’s search for God.” The truth is the opposite: YHWH is searching for us. He seeks us in all kinds of ways and means to lead us to salvation. From Genesis [the first book of the Bible] to Revelation [the last book of the Bible], Scripture reveals YHWH’s search for Humanity; it shows His desire to touch us, to let us know He’s there and that He loves us despite our sins.
PROPHETS AND THE MESSIAH
Surely the sovereign YHWH will do nothing but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. [Amos 3:7]
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. [John 14:10, 11]
From the earliest days, YHWH used prophets to communicate with us. The prophets’ work consisted of numerous things: they revealed the coming of Yahushua Messiah; they showed that YHWH values human beings enough to choose from among them prophets to represent Him; they were the means by which He revealed His love and character; they revealed the plan of salvation. And YHWH used prophets to transcribe the Bible.
While the revelation of YHWH through the prophets is the most common method, the coming of Messiah in this world is the greatest and most complete revelation ever given. Although Yahushua came in a different form from what people had expected, His life and His teaching demonstrated to Humanity the will of YHWH. People who lived in the time of Messiah looked for greatness to satisfy their physical expectations; they looked for power instead of humility; for majesty and not meekness. However, the coming of Yahushua faithfully revealed the true character of Father YHWH. The words Yahushua speaks are more than words of a mere human; they’re the revelation of the actions of YHWH Himself.
SPEAKING TODAY
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. [John 5:39]
Divine communication isn’t confined to biblical times. Some ways YHWH still reveals Himself to us:
- by His creation/nature
- by His direct guidance and direction
- by the presence of peace, when we hear and do His will
- by faith that’s present and active within our families
- by His written word.
YHWH never intends for us to be without certainty regarding the purpose of Life. He made certain we could know the truth and the means of salvation. He also reveals Himself through His image reflected in those who’ve dedicated their lives to Him.
It’s interesting to note that the word Bible is not found in Scripture. The word ultimately comes from the Greek BIBLOS, meaning “a book.” The Bible is composed of 39 books in the “Old Testament” and 27 in the “New Testament.” Despite a great deal of diversity in style and form, from the first book to the last, the Bible speaks about a loving Deity, the Creator of the universe, who reaches out to His creatures. The theme of YHWH’s love is the focus of the Bible; this is particularly seen through Yahushua Messiah, who came to this world, lived as a human being and died on Calvary.
