If God is “Good,” Why is Evil in the World?

All around us, there are places of trouble — overtaken by war, poverty, sickness and sorrow. Where did this evil come from?

WHO IS THE AUTHOR OF SUFFERING?
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith YHWH, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end. [Jeremiah 29:11]

YHWH hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. [Jeremiah 31:3]

DOES YHWH CHANGE? WHAT IS HIS CHARACTER LIKE?
A sample of characteristics:

• He is love [1 John 4:8]
• He is forever [Psalm 90:2]
• He never changes [Malachi 3:6]
• He declares the end from the beginning [Isaiah 46:10]
• He is all powerful [Genesis 1:1 and Psalm 33:6, 9]
• He is the owner of all the world [Psalm 24:1]
• He keeps His promises [Deuteronomy 7:9]
• He respects all people equally [Acts 10:34, 35]
• He is perfect [Matthew 5:48]
• He is merciful and abounds with goodness [Exodus 34:6, 7]
• He is with us during Life’s hard times [Isaiah 41:10]
• He never leaves us [Hebrews 13:5]

IF YHWH ISN’T RESPONSIBLE FOR SUFFERING, THEN WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. [1 John 3:8]

The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; the enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. [Matthew 13:38, 39]

DID YHWH CREATE THE DEVIL?
Ezekiel 28:15 says: Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. YHWH created Lucifer as a beautiful, glorious angel. And yet He gave him the capacity to choose. To remove the power of choice is to remove the power of love. Biblical love isn’t forced or coerced; it springs from divine, unmerited and gracious love. When Lucifer (meaning “light bearer”) sinned, his name changed to Satan (“adversary”). The statement in John 8:44, that Satan “abode not in truth,” shows he once was perfect and once did abide in truth. See also 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 6.

WHAT HAS YHWH DONE TO REDEEM THIS PLANET?
For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [John 3:16]

Foreasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with incorruptible things as gold or silver […] but with the precious blood of Christ […]. [1 Peter 1:18, 19]

With a heart of inexhaustible infinite love, YHWH decided to pay the price of sin Himself. He sent Yahushua his son to this world to enter the arena of human affairs to retrieve Humanity from the curse of sin.
